The curriculum is everything that a child learns in school. At Rawcliffe Bridge Primary School we give the children a broad and balanced education giving them the opportunities to develop skills for life. We follow the requirements of the National Curriculum and have developed our own creative curriculum which you can see outlined in our pdf files alongside.
Our curriculum has six areas of learning for children in Nursery and Reception. The areas are Mathematical development, communication language and literacy, personal social and emotional development, physical development , knowledge and understanding of the world and creative development.

The rest of the school plan their work in seven areas. They are: understanding mathematical development; understanding the arts; understanding scientific and technological development; understanding English, Communication and Languages; historical, geographical and social understanding, understanding physical development, health and well-being and Religious Education. |

Each year we plan three themes from which we develop work in the learning areas.
We introduce the children to French and German.
We work with the local Secondary school to give children opportunities in Business and Enterprise. The older children are also involved in the Joint Generation Council and they work with the Parish Council to develop initiatives in the village.

The themes for 2009-2010 were Romans, Italy and The Wind in the Willows. The themes for 2010-2011 are Victorians, Australia and Space.

Each year the infants produce their version of the Nativity and each summer term the juniors produce a grand musical spectacular. Recently they have produced Grease, The Wizard of Oz and in 2010 they will produce The Wind in the Willows.
We aim to constantly challenge the children and help them to move forward at their own pace. We provide each child with tasks at an appropriate level, based whenever possible on first hand experience and geared to their needs. Each child’s progress is constantly monitored and recorded against school and national targets.
